Meet our “8 in ’08” – candidates for House and Senate.

Meet our “8 in ’08” – candidates for House and Senate.

They range in age from 38 to 62. They have a total of 15 children among them. Some have previously worked in politics, and others have backgrounds as teachers, lawyers, and business leaders. Their top priorities are creating jobs, increasing access to health care, improving education, and ending the war, among others.

The other thing they have in common? They need your help. Now.

Women represent 51 percent of the American public and 56 percent of voters. Yet we comprise a paltry 16 percent of Members of Congress. We can do better, and we must.

We have identified eight woman candidates – all challengers to incumbents or candidates in open seat races – who are poised for victory on Nov. 4th. But they need your help to put them over the edge.

Of the “8 in ’08,” two are Senate candidates. Of the six House candidates, two are waging rematches, and two others are running for a second time in a district where the incumbent is retiring. For these women, their chances of winning are better the second time.

Read about their races, and then donate to their campaigns directly and with a contribution to WomenCount PAC.

In the landmark case Buckley vs. Valeo the Supreme Court ruled that campaign contributions to influence elections are equivalent to speech. WomenCount PAC was created to make sure that the voices of women are heard. Here’s another chance.
Speak! Donate! Be heard!

This time, THEY can’t do it without you.
