Be the first to sign

Supporter,

We are planning something big for right after the election, and we wanted our members to be the first to know --- and to help us get ready.

No one understands better than you that women have been the center of the conversation in this election – the good and the bad of it. It’s our job to make sure that’s where we stay. Be the first to sign our petition calling for the President-elect to create a Presidential Commission on Women in his first 100 days. It may be the easiest – but perhaps most important – request WomenCount has made of you yet.

Women, and gender equality, have been among the biggest stories of this election. And the lessons that have emerged from this campaign are critical to how women move forward in politics, in policy, and in our society.

In 1961, President Kennedy convened the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women. Eleanor Roosevelt was the first chair. That was 47 years ago, and although we have come a long way, we still have far to go. It’s time to seize the moment and do it again.

The new Commission will bring together the best thinkers across all political parties, generations, backgrounds, ethnicities, industry sectors, and other, to make change happen where we know we need it. It will be up to the Commission to define the substance and scope of its work. With your help, WomenCount will make sure it’s done right, and that the Commission’s work is carried out.

Next Thursday, two days after the election, WomenCount will officially launch a new campaign calling for a Presidential Commission on Women. Your part, now, is to sign the petition, and then forward it to your entire list of contacts with a personal note. The more names we can get on our petition, the easier it will be to accomplish our goal.

Help us make this happen. Because if not now, when?!

Warmly,
The WomenCount Team
